CEC SPEEDING UP THE EXPERIENCE
NuVox Team, the CEC has great news regarding improving our customer experience when calling in to report a trouble. We have implemented the ability for customers to open a repair case through an automated system instead of holding for a live representative. The IVR will open the Clarify case, provide the case number to the caller, and will route the case to a technician to work the issue. It’s the customer’s choice!
Why is this good for our customers? Glad you asked……… Using the new IVR method is opening cases in half the time on average which reduces our customer’s time involved in opening the issue. And with the IVR there is no wait time for the next available representative!! Additionally in the case of the infrequent but dreaded network issues this will dramatically improve the time it takes a customer to report their issue.
We believe this demonstrates that NuVox cares about improving each customer’s experience.

This post was taken off google’s Blog. It shows just how strong “Cloud Computing” is becoming.
Earlier today at the Clift Hotel in San Francisco, we convened a group of journalists, partners and customers for a discussion on Google Apps in the enterprise. We’re pleased to report that the “state of the cloud” is strong, and we’ve taken a number of steps to make it stronger.
At the event we discussed the growth of our business, introduced some new customers, and announced a feature that makes switching to Apps even easier. The Clift was a particularly appropriate venue because it’s a member of the Morgans Hotel Group, which is deploying Google Apps to its 1,750 employees. JohnsonDiversey, a global provider of commercial cleaning and hygiene products and solutions, has also gone Google. Choosing Apps helped JohnsonDiversey migrate its 12,000 employees to one communications platform while lowering its IT costs and furthering its commitment to sustainability through the elimination of a number of energy-intensive email servers.
Of course, when big companies like Morgans move all their employees from Microsoft Exchange to Google Apps, there are often a few folks who aren’t ready to give up Microsoft Outlook right away. To help them make the transition, today we also introduced Google Apps Sync for Microsoft Outlook to our Premier and Education edition customers. It lets Outlook work easily with Apps and — like offline Gmail and the Google Apps Connector for BlackBerry® Enterprise Server — is another example of how we’re making it dead simple to switch to Google Apps.
To read more about Google Apps Sync for Microsoft Outlook and hear why 1.75 million companies are now running their business on Google Apps, check out the Google Enterprise Blog.

Google has developed a way to help companies move onto Google Apps–and away from Microsoft’s Exchange e-mail software–without forcing a migration to the Gmail user interface.
Google’s Dave Girouard discusses how Google is making a play for more and more business customers for Google Apps.

Microsoft’s Outlook has been the dominant e-mail client within the business world for years, and Google’s new Apps Sync for Outlook plug-in acknowledges that some business workers just aren’t ready to give up that familiar interface, even if their CIOs are anxious to get everybody onto Google’s version of the cloud. Businesses who have already signed up for Google Apps Premier Edition–as well as Education Edition customers–will be able to roll out this plug-in across their networks and allow Outlook messages, contacts, and calendar appointments to sync with Google Apps.
Google is trying to expand its presence inside the world’s corporate IT departments with products like Google Apps, which the company says offers a cheaper and more reliable alternative to traditional IT software companies. Quoting data from Forrester, Google’s David Girouard, president of Enterprise products, said companies who chose to use Google’s hosted Gmail service save about $17 per user per month as compared to companies that build and host their own e-mail servers.
However, there apparently is a sizable enough number of workers that refuse to move off Outlook, meaning that IT directors who want to sign up with Google were forced to maintain a Microsoft Exchange server to placate those folks while moving everybody else to Gmail. An alternative where Outlook users are connected to Gmail through IMAP got the job done, but at the expense of a severe performance hit, said Chris Vander Mey, a senior product manager with Google.
Now, they can let those people continue to use Outlook but allow IT managers to move completely away from Exchange servers. “We’ve made it pretty easy to exchange your Exchange server for Google,” Girouard said.
Google’s eye is squarely on Microsoft’s cozy position in the enterprise when it comes to products such as Google Apps. Around 1.75 million businesses are using Google Apps, Girouard said, although he declined to clarify how many of those businesses are Premier Edition customers.
CIOs invited by Google to a press event in San Francisco were naturally bullish on Google’s version of cloud computing, and downplayed any concerns about security, reliability or the loss of a competitive advantage when it comes to giving up control of their IT.
“At most businesses, IT is not core. I’m not in the IT business to make money, I’m here to enable (my company) to win,” said Bob Rudy, vice president and CIO for semiconductor designer Avago Technologies in San Jose.
The plug-in only works for Outlook users on Windows; Mac users on Entourage will have to wait.

NuVox is a Cisco Powered Network!
NEW YORK — Miles per hour _ out. Bits per second _ in.
Dow Jones & Co. said Monday it would add Cisco Systems Inc., the world’s largest maker of computer networking hardware, to the 30-stock industrial average, replacing General Motors Corp. The change takes effect June 8.
The automotive giant filed for bankruptcy protection Monday. Meanwhile, Cisco has been weathering the recession without major layoffs, and has kept acquiring companies to expand its technology portfolio.
Shares of San Jose, Calif.-based Cisco rose 96 cents, or 5.2 percent, to $19.46 in midday trading. Investment funds that track the Dow Jones industrials are now forced to buy Cisco shares to match the index.
The addition of Cisco reflects the increasing importance of information technology in the U.S. economy. IBM Corp. was added to the list in 1979. It was followed by Hewlett-Packard Co. in 1997, then Intel Corp. and Microsoft Corp. in 1999.
“We believe our inclusion in the Dow demonstrates not only Cisco’s role as a broad technology indicator, but how remarkably the Internet and networking have transformed the way businesses and consumers connect, communicate and collaborate,” Cisco said in a statement.
Intel and Microsoft were the first Dow components that are listed on the Nasdaq Stock Market rather than the New York Stock Exchange. Cisco will be the third.
NuVox Communications and Verizon Communications Inc. are major Cisco customers.
Aint it great to be at NuVox!
